Baby Update - He's Here

Last Thursday, our little boy arrived. Everything they say about newborn love? It's true.

I woke up at 6:30 the morning of February 27 with contractions, and at 1:38pm, we were holding Declan James in our arms.

The labor was the most intense experience of my life, and soon I will share our birth story with you. But I can say that the Lord really answered all our prayers, and more. Declan is beautiful in every way.

Declan is an Irish name, meaning man of prayer. And that is what we hope for him - that he will grow into a man who loves Jesus and whose prayers will change the world.

And I have to say - sorry for the delay in actually blogging about it! We only left the hospital Sunday afternoon, and Tuesday we had to go to the embassy to apply for Declan's American citizenship and passport. And I'm still recovering from giving birth. We've been a bit busy.

You may have noticed already that posts have still been popping up on Journey Mercies. I am lucky to have several women who will be sharing their hearts as guest writers, and I also had some time to prepare posts before Declan arrived. I will share updates and photos every week or two on the little guy, but hopefully we will get back to our "normal programming" soon - at least as normal as it gets with your first newborn!

Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes. We really do feel loved by you all, even on the other side of the world.
